Arts Center “Nine Muses”
The building served as the residence of Dimitrios Tsalopoulos, a Greek lawyer and politician, who served as a member of parliament for many years. A member of the committee that handed over Katerini to the Greek army during the liberation of the city in October 1912, he had invaluable contribution to the Macedonian struggle through his secret collaboration with Consul Lambros Koromilas and Captain Matapas. He was married to Anastasia Kyrgiani, whose father, Vasileios Kyrgianis, was the first Greek president of the Community of Katerini, with a significant contribution to the construction of the Civil School building in collaboration with Metropolitan Parthenios Vardakas.
Today, the property belongs to the Municipality of Katerini, has been designated as a “work of art” by the Ministry of Culture and has been renamed “Arts Center Nine Muses,” which hosts cultural events and exhibitions.
