Path of Love & Wishes, Ano Milia

The paths of Love and Wishes actually start from the entrance of the church of Agia Paraskevi, which is a jewel for the mountain settlement of Ano Milia, which is built at an altitude of 1,000 meters in the Pieria Mountains.

The history of the village, which is about 26 kilometers from the city of Katerinis, is lost in the depths of the centuries. It is considered certain that in 1763 AD passed through the area and Cosmas the Aetolos taught there. In fact, in the trunk of a pine, the hieromonk stuck an iron cross, which is preserved to this day, while a small church was built in the same place in memory of the saint.

Not far from the spot, the paths of “Agapi” and “Wishes” begin, which were opened by the initiative of the local Cultural Association and are completely accessible for nature lovers of all ages.

During the route, which does not exceed 7 kilometers, one encounters wooden bridges that cross streams with running water, stone-built fountains with clean, drinking water, as well as a multitude of different types of trees, such as oaks, firs, pines, beeches and chestnuts.

On the Path of Wishes, there is a tree where visitors hang a ribbon or thread as a personal wish. The route ends at the small church of Agios Kosmas of Etolos, with an amazing view of the plain of Pieria.
